Sevice Pack 3 Fatal Error -- Help!

I just installed Service Pack 3 and now I get a "fatal error unhandled access violation reading 0x0000 exception at 4048b9h" upon trying to open Civil 3D. This is on a Vista machine and I don't have the Google Earth add-on, or whatever, if that matters. Any ideas on how to fix this or do I need to reinstall so I can get back up and running?

Civil 3D 2007 is unsupported on Windows Vista.

It's been working okay in XP compatibility mode up until now, although I did have problems creating surfaces in LDD. I'm the "guinea pig" of the office (with the new computer) but I guess I'll have to lobby the IT guy to get me XP at this point. For now, it's reinstall without SP3.

mlynskey, try a repair on your installation.

I never did get Service Pack 3 to work in Vista, by the way, and would be interested to hear if others have tried & succeeded. I am having unending troubles with data shortcuts, grading, and all their associated system crashes. I'm hoping version 2008 will be more stable (& therefore reliable enough to be able to utilize the real features of the software). Enough ranting....

It's not that the software is so unstable, but you do have to take into
account that you're running it on an unsupported OS. Even with the
known problems, I wouldn't blame your issues 100% on Civil 3D.
