Setting surface materials in Civil 3D

I have been asked to display ground layers for my road design drawing, and wondering if this is possible in AutoCAD Civil 3D. For example, I have designed a road in my model, and there is suppose to be bedrock at 3m below the surface, is there any way to make my cross-sections automatically show where the bedrock elevation will be?

Thanks

If the bedrock is uniformly 3m below OG, copy the OG surface, rename it to Bedrock, then use Raise/Lower Surface to lower it 3m. As long at its surface style has Lines turned on in Section view and you select this surface as a data source when creating the Sample Line Group, the surface will plot with the cross sections.
