Sag and Crest profile labels keep disappearing

Hi,

I have C3D 2013 and recently my profile labels for sag and crest vertical curves are disappearing.  When I first open the drawing and the program goes through loading I can see the labels but once it stops loading they disappear.  All my levels are on, I have ran an audit several times, I have deleted the labels in the manager and replaced them but once I save and quit they are no longer visible.  I am able to see the labels through an xref of the drawing but it appears that the labels have been reset to their default position and not where I had adjusted them to view them within the viewport.  I have attached pictures of what it looks like.  Can someone tell me what's causing this and how to fix it?

Scott

Bruce, I even created the same scenario as Sandy, where I created a drawing, Dref the alignment and created profiles. I don't experience the issue that Sandy does. My data, my template. I'm thinking it's something on Sandy's end specifically. I posted a template to use so Sandy can see if the same results are achieved. Sandy, perhaps repair the installation?

Keep in mind that this problem did not happen right away in my drawings, not sure if Sandy's did though.  I had been working on my drawing for a couple of months before the labels started to go crazy.  I thought that it could have been related to the update that we had in the program a while back.  So with that being said it could be possible that the problem may not spring up when trying to replicate the problem, are you all updated to latest version and using C3D 2013?

Yes, I'm troubleshooting this issue with 2013 and SP1. Perhaps if someone who doesn't have the SP loaded can try the same scenario.

Synchronizing is a reasonable solution until I can find the root of the problem.  Thanks!

Lisa,

I have used your dwt with no problems.  I created an alignment shortcut and referenced it in another dwg where I created a profile using the labels that were in your roadway dwt.  The labels came in every time I opened the file.  I used the same workflow, server, etc. and could not recreate the issue with your file.  The only difference is your dwt was the base for both files.

It must have something to do with my dwg template.  Also, since you mentioned it in an earlier post, I was having this problem before applying sp1 as well.  As ssaigeon mentioned, the problem does not seem to arrise until I've been working with the files for some time.

Manually synchronizing the alignments when first opening the dwgs will work until I can recreate a new dwg template from scratch.  I've been updating the one I have through several Civ 3D versions and that very well could be the problem.  However, I'm obviously not the only one with this issue.  More than one discussion is posted concerning this very problem.

Thanks for everyone's help,

Have a nice day!

My template is not based on any OOTB files at all, we created it in 2010 and have brought it forward. Just additional information if someone is investigating.

Lisa,

Please forgive my ignorance... but what are "OOTB" files?

OOTB = Out Of The Box. Anything supplied with the original program. IOW Not customized.

Ran into the same problem on one of my Drawings.

Solution:

Go to:

Profile View Properties (by highlighting the Profile View, Right click)

Stations TAB

Toggle User Specified Range

Add 5.0 metres to start and add 5.0 metres to end

i.e.

if start is -0+005 make it -0+010

if end is 1+105 make it 0+110

This worked find for me, every time I open my problem Drawing the labels come in exactly as I save them.

Regards

Robert

I tried the adding extra meter in the stationing method. but it didn't work for my drawing. However locking the layer seem to work OK.

I have discovered (in Civil 3D 2013 and older) that if your profile view begins at a station before there is profile information (i.e. a drawn proposed profile), even if only 0.0001, then your sag/crest tags (and pipe network entities) will behave very odd. They will not show up when the drawing is opened. Only after synchronizing will they show up and then they will be reset. Make your profile view begin at least at the exact point of profile information or this condition will continue.

Also, if there is any break in the profile information (again, even as little as 0.0001) then this condition will occur. Double and triple check that all of your profile information is continuous and extends, to a minimum, to the grid ends of the profile view.
