Rotating Point label style

Imported points and I have a label style to label tree sizes automatically,  but when there are many trees near each other labels start to overlap.  So I will typically rotate the label style 180 degree or drag the label, but I am curious if its possible to have label always stay horizontal no matter what my rotation angle is.

yes edit the label style and goto general tab.   pick orient to view instead of object.

What Dan said. I did exactly that for exactly the same reason yesterday. One tip. If you're aiming for a viewport with a Viewtwist set. Consider twisting your modelspace view to the same angle. It will make the dragged the labels look correct. If you don't want to do that. You can either work through the viewport or maximize the viewport.

I have it set to view, so it comes in horitzontal, but when I select the point and select the node for the label and select rotate the label, label stays at an angle.  See attached pics.  As I rotate the label around the point how can I get the label to always stay horizontal.  Forgot to mention this is being done in 2013

When you select the grip you have the option of rotating the marker or marker and label, just do the marker

if the orientation is set to view the point label should not rotate with the node.   please double check your setttings for the individual point as well as the point group.

I am not rotating the point itself, just the label.  How do you upload a video? I have a video of how its acting now as .swf created through jing.  Or if its possible if you could insert a pic or video.  Thanks for any help.

sjg, I'm sorry I just opened 2013 and the right click command is different from 2011. I would suggest dragging the label instead of rotating it when you use the grip. the view setting will keep the label horizontal. you can set the label to no arrow and as composed to keep it from changing shape or moving the label components around. I hope this helps. p.s. there doesn't appear to be a way to use the grip edit rotate label and keep it horizontal because that is counter intuitive to what the new feature is supposed to do.

Thank for the response. Yeah I was thinking of modifying the dragged state properties or create another label style for placing above or below the object.
