Reading triangles from file

I am running 2011 c3d on windows 7 with 15 GB of ram.

An error message I get is "reading triangles from file" and the program locks up to where you need to do a reset on the computer. I have an existing ground surface that is data shortcut into the file I am opening when I get this error. The existing ground surface is about 5 mg in size. I'm not sure if this is causing the error. Any information or help on this appreciated.

Thanks

What happens if you open the Drawing with RECOVER Command in Civil 3D?

Does that work?

Thanks for the reply,

Yes that removes three errors it find and then the drawing works fine.

I am having the same issue, though with Civil 3d 2012.  I have tried recovering the drawing, but it still gives me this error.  Thoughts?

Try to load, in an empty drawing, the damaged file as XREF, then "bind" it, save and exit: any changes?
