RD wont read world file for Tiff

I'm trying to insert this .tiff and it keeps dropping it at 0,0. The correlation source drop down never shows an option for world file. I have tried removing the "x" at the end of the extension and still no luck. I've attached the tiff but when i try to attach the world file (.tfwx) I get an error "The contents of the attachment doesnt match its file type." Any help is appreciated. Thanks,

Charles:

I know you showed a .tiff file but I would think that this is only a .tiff of the normal Firm Map Community sheet.  The files that I have seen that use the .twf file are much larger in file size and are .tif map file.

Just one opinion.

It doesn't matter, Bill: a georeferenced image can be very small, it depends on colour depth and compression rate.

@ Charles

About your attached one, it is a true Geotiff in EPSG:2276 containing the following header:

0.00500000
0.00000000
0.00000000
-0.00500000
0.00250000
8.49750000

As you see, it sounds far away from your worldfile.

I'm glad to upload the fixed Geotiff, sir.

Thanks, I appreciate you doing that. What software did you use to edit the tiff info? Is there way to get RD to ignore the tiff geo reference and read a world file instead?

No way, sir: the header of a Geotiff gets priority on every external worldfile.

Here's my workflow to fix your damaged file:

  1. opened up in Qgis to read the embedded CRS
  2. opened up in Irfanview, and saved with no compression just to reset the header
  3. opened up again in Qgis, paying attention of the same names between .TIF and .TFW
  4. set up the CRS as EPSG:2276, and saved all as Geotiff with Deflate compression
  5. closed Qgis

@ Billy

Below I attach a special version of Charles' Geotiff, four times smaller than the previous one.

I've simply converted to monochromatic, upon the same high resolution, then compressed with the powerful CCITT algorithm.
