Quick experssion

Anyone got an expression to go from dec feet to feet and inches? It would save me a bunch of time in Help and debugging with a 5pm deadline.

If so,

THANKS A BUNCH!!

I need delta Z for a line segment in feet and inches.

Haven't got one, but I like the challenge.
Since you can't have anything but numbers as the result of an expression, I think you will need two expressions.
The first one uses TRUNC to simply truncate the number, and return the feet only.
The second one uses TRUNC again, and subtracts that from the whole number to return just the part after the decimal. Then just multiply by 12 to get inches, right? That will give you decimal inches.

Then put both together in a label.

Will this work?  I am not too familiar with expressions.  I couldn't get the feet and inch symbols to work inside of the expression so I made two and put them both into a label style.

Here's my untested guess at the inches part:

12*(({General Segment End Z}-{General Segment Start Z}
)-(TRUNC({General Segment End Z}-{General Segment Start Z})))

Thank you both for replying and helping. I made the deadline but the plans did not have the label. I used qleaders.

I will definately use the two expression in one label approach. Thanks.

nvengineer thanks but one is always easier than two. 🙂
