I've been working on trying to find the best way to export a variety of different Civil3d objects into 3ds max. The one object type that seems to continue to evade me are pipe networks. Has anyone found a good way to export these to 3ds max? I don't care about having them dynamically linked so much as rendering the part materials in model as they show up in Civil3d. None of my searching has found a thread related on this topic, but surely I'm not the first person to want this.
Hi jalneal-
Unfortunately I have not yet tried this, nor have I seen any results with pipe networks in 3DS Max. However this is something that is very interesting to me, so if I have some free time at some point today I will take a closer look and let you know what I can find out.
Maybe someone else on here has attempted this and can chime in with some tips and tricks.
I just did a quick test, and unfortunately Pipes and Structures are not supported objects per the help file: http://docs.autodesk.com/CIV3D/2012/ENU/filesCUG/GUID-4D538A84-5034-4348-87AD-87B6C8AB605-2339.htm
Upon running the VSP3DExport command on a drawing that only contains pipes you will get this message, confirming that there are no viable objects in the current drawing to export:
