Purge

I have sent a purged drawing to a client and they are telling me that there are still items that need to be purged. However, when i try to purge my drawing it does not reveal any items that are able to be purged.

You could have nested blocks, sub-objects of blocks referencing layers, etc....

A couple of favorites:

- leaders in block definitions, preventing purging of dimension styles

- text settings in dimension styles, preventing purging of text styles

- blocks as arrow heads in dimension styles, preventing purging of text styles

- block definitions with non-BYLAYER/BYBLOCK objects, preventing purging of layers or line types

- materials associated with nested XREFs

- deeply nested block definitions created by data-only or invisible attribute -only blocks e.g. BLOCK A -> AF -> FLOW -> AFLOW

- blocks with only invisible attributes

They may be using "purge" as a generic term, where they mean remove e.g. excess annotation scales.

What about the 'Purge Styles' command?

This particular client has discovered that there is a table style named "legend" and a text style name "legend" that cannot be purged unless you rename the style with the rename command. It seems like it is a glitch in each version of autocad from 2009-now. Not sure why anyone would care about these styles still residing within a drawing, but what do i know.
