profile grades questions

So just started using 13 and got all the way up to drawing tangents and curves in a profile for my proposed finished grade. I've got the profile layout tools up but why can't I tell it I want my grade at 3% say? The whole thing is making me free hand it? The other thing is when I get out of that tool palet, is there away to get back in other then profile creation tools? every time I do so it makes a new layout, I'm up to 8 for one profile?

sorry for the new be questions, this 13 is all new to me, I have been using 08 and I'm trying to see how my office is all going to make the change over.

Use the Transparent Commands on the right side of your screen...

To add to Todd's advice. Grip the layout profile and the ribbon will adjust "contextually, or RC for the mouse menu and pick edit profile geometry
