Profile Data Band style layers grayed out

I'm trying to change the layers my profile data band styles (and section band styles).  The layers for the labels are grayed out.  I've looked through the discussions and found that I need to change the layers by going  into the compose label and changing the layer there.  I've tried that and still have not been able to get the layers to change.  I'm attaching two screen shots: one of the display tab and the other showing the Label Style Compser.  I know that I'm missing something but what?

I'm using C3D 2012.

Thanks

You can’t change it in an existing band style as the information is being pulled from the object layer settings. You will have to change the layer in the object layer settings and create a new Profile Band Style. This may work.

I have been hanging onto this topic trying to figure out what the deal is with Band Styles and the component display layer settings being grayed out (i.e. not being able to be changed).  Seems as though there is some kind on inheritance going on with these settings, but I can't seem to find the answer.  The suggestion that these layer settings are inherited from the Drawing Setting Object Layer settings does not seem to be correct, at least as much as I can figure.

If you create a drawing using the acad.dwt, all the layer settings are zero for object, label styles, and profile view band styles; but the same band style layers are grayed out. So this would seem to indicate that it is not an inheritance issue.  If you use the "_AutoCAD Civil 3D (Imperial) NCS.dwt" template, then the all the layers for the profile view band layers are set to non-zero layers, including the grayed out layers.  These band style setting seem to be a different animal then the other style settings.

Anybody out there got any insight into how these layer settings work for Band Styles??  Is this one of those things that is on the fix wish list?

Only possible by creating a new Profile Band Style. No other way

When you create a new band style you end up with the labels on layer 0.  There's still no way to change them to the layer you want. I spoke with Autodesk product support on this issue and there doesn't seem to be anyway to set the layers. They said they were sending the question to the Development group.

Thanks for the info cwalsh.  If you hear something back from Autodesk on the topic, please post it back to this thread.  While it is not an immediate issue for me, I still would like to know if there is resolution.

Try to open the Label Style Composer of the Data Band you need to change, open the General Tab, assign Layer for the band

I have found yesterday this post here: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-civil-3d-forum/how-to-track-where-layers-are-referenced/td-p/4...

Sincpac3d has "CivilStyleProperties" command which also lets you change every layer used in civil objects with right click.
