problems with civil 3d objects in regular autocad

in my office there are only 2 of us that have liscences for civil 3d 2010, the rest just have cad 2010. when we who have civil 3d set up surfaces, baselines and other civil 3d objects (if thats what they are), then the people who have regular cad have problems with the drawings. example the basline wont show up, you cant change the annotation scale and some of the styles wont show up. anyone know what it is?

Civil3D objects are special objects that are not recognized or editable outside of Civil3D. However, plain Autocad can manipulate their display properties if you install what are called object enablers. Try downloading and installing the C3D 2010 object enabler on the non-C3D users machines. I recommend you view the readme file to ensure you understand the installation and useage of the enabler.

Here is a link to the C3D 2010 object enabler: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=13084151&linkID=10381720

that sounds like it would work but we run a 64 bit version do you know if there is an update for that version?

In your post you mentioned you were using C3D 2010. There is no 64 bit version of 2010. 2011 is the first 64bit release of C3D. If you are running 2010 in a 64bit environment I don't know what, if any, issues you might have with the 32 bit enabler. If you do have problems with it, start a new thread as there are other users who have experience in that regard.

If you back up a link or 2 in the URL I sent you should get to a list of all available enablers for C3D.

Neil, there is a 64 bit Acad 2010 which is what I thought the OP was saying.

In this case, I don't believe there is a C3D OE that will work. OP, do search of the group over the past year. I know this has been discussed before, but since it didn't concern me (we had no copies of 64 bit Acad) I really didn't pay too much attention.

That was an oversight on my part. I forgot that vanilla ACAD was part of the equation. There may be answers in the plain ACAD forum as well.

If you are on subscription it would be worthwhile to submit a support request while you search for a solution.
