Problem with assembly

Good evening. I am having touble creating a specific assembly in Civil 3D 2008 sp2. From centerline I would like a pavement section, 6' shoulder, cut ditch / fill section, a sidewalk with 1' shoulder on each side approx at the r/w line (50' r/w) and then tie to existing ground at a 2:1 cut/fill slope. I can get the pavement, shoulder and cut ditch / fill sections to work just fine with fg contours but no luck adding a sidewalk. Any ideas or suggestions with details as I am a fairly new Civil 3D user. Thanks!

Kevin

Kevin,
Attach your drawing here. It must be less than 1 meg though. Someone will help.

Build it and they will come...

Long story short... add a MarkPoint to the Ditch (Generic Tab), add a LinkToMarkedPoint (names of both must match), add your sidewalk and last grading... the assembly is ready.

Need more help? I'll be around but you could watch the "Corridor Modelling—Using "Marked Points"
Recorded: December 8, 2006" webcast for clarification.

Happy Modeling,

John

Thank you for your help. I watched the video and tried to follow your advice but as usual something still isn't working right. I am attaching a .dwg file if anyone has a few minutes. Just to clarify, I need the sidewalk to be outside of the r/w along the left edge of sidewalk. Also, for some reason whenever I edit my assembly the pavement disappears and i get a slash through the cl of my assembly...?

I would also appreciate any guidance on designing the 150' island at the start of the road with a 50' taper to our normal road width. Thanks again!

Recovering the drawing saves it, finding this:

Reading handle 16F8AB object type AeccDbFeatureLine
Error 81 (ePermanentlyErased) Object discarded

Auditing Header

For the portion of the section between the shoulder & sidewalk.....I'm a bit
unclear on what you are trying to do in this area.

Can you post a sketch of what you expect the resulting section to be?

Thank you and everyone who looked at the file. I deleted so much from the file trying to make the file size significantly smaller that something was bound to go wrong. Posted is a .dwg (drawn in LDT as I don't have Civil at home yet) of roughly what I'm looking for. The biggest constraint is a 4' sidewalk that has to be outside of the 50' r/w (25' each side). To be honest, I've never designed anything with a sidewalk ...mostly rural subdivisions. Any suggestions are definitely welcome as I'm trying to get up and running in Civil and the only one where I work to venture down this road.

Oh, one other thing. If anyone can tell me why my FG elevation at the bottom of my profile is reporting existing ground elevation (with 2 decimals) I will be so grateful! I have tried everything with no success. I know that I'm in the right area as i've changed the precision. Any ideas???

I never want to go back to LDT 2004 but Civil can be so frustrating at times!

Assuming I am correct in what you are asking. Select Profile View
Properties -> Bands (Tab) -> You possibly have something like Profile Data
under Band Type. Use the slider at the bottom of the window and on the
right end you will see Profile1 and Profile2. Select the appropriate one,
but you must have two profiles to select from or they will both be the same.

Your drawing is now 2meg. I'll need your e-mail address to get it back to you... this should give you some ideas!

Mine is in my profile, here on the Community site.
