pressure network projects

Has anyone found a workflow for using pressure networks in plan & profile sheets that works?

Anything you do to the pressure pipe vertically, such as curve the pipe vertically, or use the 'follow surface' command, does not follow through when you data reference the pressure network.

the only way I can see to make it work is to make all the profile views for each sheet in the same drawing as the pressure network and then xref that into your plan sheets.

any other ideas out there that work??

We're 2 almost 3 releases since this feature was added and it's still pretty much unuseable in a production environment.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

We actually don't data reference anything into a sheet.  To many thing can go wrong.  We Xref them.  The profile will be completed in the model file since you need it there to do the vertical changes anyway.

Since more of our clients want edge to edge profile grids we still do it old school on that because Civil 3D is lacking when building sheets.  As a matter of fact I have only seen one piece of software cut profile sheets to what you want, but that's because the person that programs it will build it to what you need.

As for curves, yes they do not data reference which is a pain.  So typically again we resort to old school for crossings.  Hand draing them.... ugh 😞  Now I have not checked this in 2015.  Hopefully they fixed it.

Just tried in 2015.

Still not fixed. 😞

Doing things old school (of which we do some things also) totally negates the purpose of having C3D.

What good is 'dynamic modeling' if only half of it is dynamic?

I've talked with Autodesk 'higher-ups' and my reseller until I'm blue in the face.

We aren't interested in new features, A360, or anything else. Just make what you already have work correctly!!

Yeah, I posted on this issue a while ago. Hard to believe it's not been addressed yet.
