I think I have a bug.
I have created a feture line from a 2d polyline.
I have NO weed appplied and as you can see there are two errors :
- some points on original surface (used to get Z) are not interpolated.
- the quick profile shows error : in addition to lacking points, others are bad interpolated.
(the image show both)
The surface used behaves rightly with feature lines created from aligments
(I have created an aligment from polyline and then a fetaure line from that and the Z interpolation are ok )
Do you experiment something similar ? Thanks

Civil 3D (2013) how much you have to improve....

I do not have the issue in 2013 either. I create a feature line from a pline that has colinear PI's and I asign elev's from surface, delete existing objects and add intermediate verticies. The Fline projected over a surface profile will follow an identical path as expected.

I'm able to replicate the issue as well. You need to have some pretty tight vertex spacing before it's an issue. Here are the steps I took to see the issue in C3D 2014 with HF1 installed.

Yeah good stuff Brian. Perhaps I haven't seen it because I generally don't space PI's that close. I did reproduce it very obviously with small increments.

Nice video that shows the problem very well - no doubt we will need to wait until Service Pack 2 for the 2015 release to see a fix...!!!!!
Based on the way Autodesk does coding, it'll be more like 2017.
