Is there any way to get civil 3d to import points with letters in the text?

For example point number 202B, right now I am having to edit the text file before I can import.

Only if you create a Point File Format that imports your identifier as the "Point Name" instead of the "Point Number".

The drawback to this is that every point in C3D must have a Point Number as well, so C3D will automatically assign the next available point number to the points as they are imported.

Yes, add the Name property to the Point fIle Format. However, if you don't make sure to set the drawing's point creation properties to start with the same starting number in the file AND if the points in the file are not in order, the point numbers will not match the point names.

Thanks. That does read the text file however I have regular point numbers in the file as well.

And I do not want them to be assigned a new point number. So I'm still stuck doing so editing.
