points to polyline

I have road centre line points imported as NEZ. How can I join them with a polyline so I can use it to create a long section?

I rarely use C3D (it shows!). I can join the 46 points with individual lines but can't find how to join them / convert to a polyline. I can join them using a Feature line but can't work out how to make this into an alignment. I have tried pedit and Join.

I will be doing more of this - our Council has about 2,000 km of road for which we have points 50m apart. I don't want to draw polylines from point to point all day.

If you are importing the points from an ascii file that has the points in
the correct order then is a simple matter of creating the 3d polyline
directly from that file. Is that what you would like to do?

The lisp file attached will do that for you.
I apologise for the bad code, but it works.

Use appload to load, then importal to run.

And when did that little beauty sneak in? I had no idea you could do that.
I must be getting too reclusive.

Thanks,

Jon,

It's just the command line input for the point number transparent command.
If you don't know about transparent commands, you REALLY need to experiment
and play with them!

I knew you could supply a point number: just never even considered you could
supply more than one at a time, let alone a range of them.

We used to have a User Group here in my home town (15 years ago) where this
sort of simple, powerful tool would be brought to light. There is always
something to learn.

I've got a web cast this week. I'll see how many of these I can add in. For
AU I'll make sure that I have even more for my "Tips and Tricks" class.

If you're saying AEC_POINT entities, I have a vba program I did few years back using LDD. I tweaked it to suit C3D points. It sorts the sequence based on Point Number, or based on selection.

email me if you want this for free.

Look for the class schedule to be posted early this summer. We've got a
great lineup of over 60 classes for Civil 3D, including the return of the 12
class "Power Track"

See you there!
