points or blocks

Any recommendations / opinions on using c3d points versus blocks for bid items? Reports, QTO, labeling, tables

C3D 2022 and 2024

You mean you have some trees, for example, and you want to use either points or blocks to show them so they can be counted, labeled etc?

Well, I think it's easier to label points using their label styles. Blocks can have attribute labels, but they aren't as flexible as labels. Also, the annotative nature of C3D labels is easier to deal with than those of regular AutoCAD.
I believe it's easier to create tables for points than are blocks. However, AutoCAD tables are easier to manupulate afterwards.
Counting blocks with QTO is awkward because you have to remember to attach pay item data.

Opinion: Civil 3D points all the way.
