Point Table in Paper Space

I am trying to find a toggle that will stop my tables from changing size depending on how far out I am zoomed in Paper space. Currently my table changes size everytime I zoom and regen. When I plot it always looks the right size, but viewing it and moving it around is a pain.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Patrick

Does the table reside in PS? I don't think C3D labels & tables were made for
PS. If it is in MS it will rescale with zooms if you do not lock the vp.

It does live in paper space, I was hoping I could make that work.

Thanks.

Agreed - this "zooming" of tables in PS can be very annoying. Quickest way is to change to another layout and then back to the original layout which automatically forces a REGENALL. Otherwise simply do a REGENALL in the layout.

That's a real pain in the you know what. But yeah that worked for me. Doing a regenall on the fly sometimes would change my drawing extends so bad it would move out of the paperspace view.

Leave the table in Model Space.  Make a window in paper space.

Hi-

The Point Group Table sure is handy (especially since it can update dynamically).  However, they can be annoying due to their annotative nature, as you and others alluded to.  As @wfberry recommended, keeping them in Model Space (off to the side) with a layout viewport is best, but if you need to have them in Paper Space, you may want to consider exporting your point group to a .csv.  Then use “datalink” to link that .csv to a normal ACAD table.  These tables do not behave the same as Civil 3D tables from a annotation scale perspective and may be an option for you to use in Paper Space.  Please note that you will have to reexport your point group to overwrite the .csv each time you update points and update the data links, so it may not be worth it if you expect a lot of changes.

I hope this helps.

I have had issues with doing that as well. One of the suggestions of going to another tab and back again works. pain in the butt but it works.

that's always an option if you don't think you data will change. Often in my case, my data changes often as some Engineers change their mind as often as they do their socks lol. This recent drawing, they changed 3 times in 1 week.

Like most said, create and keep your tables in modelspace then make a viewport. Also, try to be at the scale you will be plotting at when you create your tables. This will ensure you have the room and spacing. If you are not sure then give yourself some extra room. Also, once you have the viewports created vpfreeze what you don't need. This will keep the regen time down.  I have very little trouble going this route.

I agree with @wfberry and @jefflambert9091 that the best solution is leaving the table in model space off to the side with a layout viewport in paperspace. It will help with room on your design sheet, and it will keep the regen time down.
