Point Label Text Issue

I have a drawing containing trees (size and type) that I've taken the time to clean up and make the text legible. When I reference it into my existing conditions, demolition and tree removal plan the text becomes illegible again. I believe it has something to do with the scale factor of the drawings. The tree drawing file has been cleaned up with the annotation scale (lower right hand corner) at 1" = 60, while the drawing it is being referenced into has an annotation scale of 1" = 200'. So, you can see how the text although cleaned up in the one drawing is a total ess in the second drawing.

Now with that being said I'm sure I could change the annotation scale of the tree drawing and clean up the text so that there are no issue, but I'm also using this same drawing for the 1" = 60' enlarged details. Any suggestions on how I can handle this situation?

TIA

From 1:60 to 1:200 is a pretty big difference. I assume the text is illegible because it is rescaled and becomes either too large or too small. If you want the text to remain fairly readable at both scales, I would change it to not be annotative and set the size to the best happy medium you can get between the two scales. You couls also copy the text from the base plan into the other drawing and re-size it there. If it were my plan, I would only display the text at 60 scale.

Is the text you're working with a point label? If so, you can't stop it from re-scaling. You will probably have to explode the points to use the text. Make sure you export the points first so that they can be re-imported after they are exploded.

You may have to create a fixed text height for the points using the Drawing Scale Factor in an expression. Points are the only thing I do this with because I also want to be able to have them maintain readability across scales.

If only Civil Objects worked like text. All would be wonderful. 🙂
