I was wondering if there is a way to get the difference in X, Y, and Z of
two points. The situation is I have a 3d polyline lets say at an odd angle
and a collection of points offset from this. I need to know the X, Y, and Z
difference from the offset point perpendicular to the 3d polyline.

Have you tried using the basic distance tool on the inquiry commands tool bar. Point to point it gives x.y.z distance, but I'm not sure how it would work between a 3D polyline and a point.
