Point Groups don't delete

I was working on our template this weekend and did a select all. The
properties dialog listed 1400+ point groups. My template has 33 point groups
defined. I cannot delete the point groups.

I had two groups that I renamed. I saved the dwt & reopened it. The 2 point
groups that were renamed are there but the two original groups have
reappeared. In other words, I renamed 2, saved, opened & found 4.

Does anyone know how to purge these out or correct these issues? Has anyone
else seen this?

I have purged, used Quick Select to try to erase them, purged regapps,
audit, recover. The point groups are not really assigned to any c3d object
as a property. Even so I did go though the file & try to find some sort of
style or setting dependency. I could not find any.

Any and all suggestions (short of me flying a kite) are greatly appreciated.

That's a strange one, John. I just opened a blank drawing, imported some
points (all points was created) then created my own point group - I deleted
my point group, ran qselect, it was gone. I saved the drawing, closed it,
reopened, the point group did not reappear when I used qselect again. I
would assume that you've audited and recovered the template?

A number of times Jason.

I think this template began on 06. I have dragged & dropped everything under
the sun into this file.

The one I was working on this weekend was a copy of the template we
currently use. I opened the template we currently use (33 point groups) and
it list 649 point groups. Therefore the template I copied this weekend had
the funky point groups double.

The work I did on the copied template was nothing more than changing point
styles to layer zero & setting up some layer control. I was also editing
default object layers.

Are they all displaying in Prospector? Or are they just "there" but not
"there"? If the latter is the case, would it just be acceptable to
ignore the problem? I know it's irritating having them there and not being
able to get rid of them, but as long as they're not displaying and not
causing any problems, I would just leave them...

Wow, that template has been around the block, eh?

Only 33 groups list in prospector. The remaining are ghosts. Will try
exorcism next. 😉

there's a joke somewhere there about a priest and a laptop, but I ain't
gonna try it.

Good luck, John. Haven't seen that one before, maybe it won't be too hard
to get rid of.
