Point Cloud LAS file

Does anyone know how accurate a surface is when created from a Point Cloud? I have a LAS file with 2 billion points and imported it to C3D 2014 which can display 10 million points. I want to create contours at a 1 foot interval and wonder if the accuracy is based on the points visible in autocad or the LAS file.

I guess a full resolution contours model is what the OP's after, no matter of perfomance improvements.
