hello,
i need help with survey database please.
i cannot find where do i set the label and point style for the database points.are these kept in database ?
i incert points from two different databases and i get different point styles althought i see that the style are "default " at the properties for both points.
i apreciate any help.
thanks
i noticed that when i insert points from the "points/incert into drawing" right click on survry groups ccommand i get point in the drawing with a cross style.
when i incert the whole group i get a new point group appear in my drawing and this group have a point style set to "utility pole" an dlabel to "point number only.
how can i control this?
thanks!!
You did this in the SAME DWG file?
Two points using the same style in the same file will look the same unless you've overridden the style in a specific point's properties.
What version are you working in? Post your file(s) and I or possibly someone else will take a look.

The database is just the data itself for the points. The drawing controls how the points look when they're inserted into it. You can control what layers, styles, and labels show up with the description key set. You need to look into the help files and tutorials about how the surveying side works if you want to understand this better.
A,
Here's a related post that might help:

A,
I don't know where to set the Default Point Group for the Survey Database, or even why the Survey Database insists on placing brought-in points into a Point Group other than All Points. I've struggled with that one myself:

Don,
Can you post a screen grab of that? Which feature codes?

Description Keys handle symbols (and label styles) so that if you have a survey code SMH then a manhole symbol (point style) gets used and can have a label for the rim elevation (label style). I provide a sample below showing description keys, which must be set up in your default C3D template.
The second would be point groups, which you can create to capture certain points either by description, number, elevation etc.. Here you can also override the point style assigned by a description key if so desired.
Hope it helps.

Sorry -- I was confusing this with LINESTRINGS. The feature codes will all you to change what "FULL DESCRIPTION" is shown in the points (which can be different from the RAW DESCRIPTION.
Your point group definitions can include/exclude points based on many combinations of things including RAW DESCRIPTION and FULL DESCRIPTION.
So if your feature codes say that shots with RAW DESCRIPTION of GR* will have a FULL DESCRIPTION of Ground, then if a Point Group definition is set to include points with FULL DESCRIPTION of Gr*, then it will apply this group to those points.
Then in addition to that, you can configure your feature codes so that individual points override the Point Group's assigned style. Basically the feature code tells C3D that it doesn't matter what style(s) are assigned to the point -- that point should be displayed using THIS (THESE) style(s).
