Please Help... Cannot drag and drop styles

This is very frustrating. I have a drawing that I have revised the styles the way I want them. Particularly the size of text and precision of vertical profile band text. I also have a template drawing. I cannot seem to drag the styles from my drawing to my template. I have both dwg and dwt open, set the dwg active, set the toolspace to active view, locate the style in my drawing and drag and drop to my template. I looks like it will work, it tells me duplicate style - overwrite, rename, etc. I overwrite and save my template, but the styles do not stay. any thoughts? Version 2007

I have had this happen too, no explanations. My only guess on that to do is
make a new blank drawing (with no styles) and then insert your drawing with
styles. Then erase all and use this to take your styles from and save as
your template.

How about this. I thought maybe I would delete the style from my template before drag and drop. When I ask to delete the style from my template, it tells me its in use and cannot delete. There is nothing in the template dwg. How can it be in use? Can I get around this somehow?

Profile Bands are notorious for not working correctly dragging from one
drawing to another - even if you did get it to work, you'd likely get
errors (multiply owned object, for example) - for those styles, it's
best to create the style in the template itself.

Interesting finding, Jason. Are there any particular bands that you
have found a problem with from the templates that ship with Civil 3D, or
are these ones that you've created, or does it not matter?

I haven't been able to narrow it down to any particular bands, Himanshu.
I wasn't even sure what the problem was until I was talking with
Nick and used the ENTDEL command on those particular handles and then
noticed that my profile bands were gone. I thought that my mind was
slipping and that I'd just forgot to drag those styles over, so I drug
them again. Got the error again, so I used the ENTDEL command once
again, bands disappeared. That's when I put 2 and 2 together. I'm
99% sure the bands in question were modified versions of the OOTB bands,
but not sure what particular bands caused the problem.

I have been routinely doing this to my template drawing by having both dwg and dwt open and setting the dwt active and setting the toolspace to master view and just dragging styles from the settings under the dwg into the drawing area of the active dwt - no problems other than sometimes the text style in some styles defualts back to standard

Tom,

Good to hear that it's working for you. Could you pin-point any
particular styles for which the text style reverts to standard? Sounds
like a bug. Thanks.

Himanshu,

Nice to see that you are taking notice.

I have all my fingers and toes and legs crossed and a knot in my hankie in the hope that you can nail this problem for early 2008 release....it is fundamental to C3D that dragging and drpopping styles is stable.

cheers, Peter.

As an update - yesterday I was doing the very same thing. Dragging and
dropping styles between a drawing. I've NOW narrowed it down to
profile labels (I think) - Using the 4 handles that were returned to me
in my template as being multiply owned objects, I used dbview to track
those handles down. The problem is with AECC_LABEL_TEXT_STYLE, which
is owned by AECC_DB_LABEL_SYLE_TEXT - maybe this will help with finding
the problem so that we can search for a solution...
