by default the the basic label for the previous & next sheet are on the unmasked side of the the match line, placing the text on top of our roadwork. I tried flipping them but then the text is masked with all the background stuff. Is there a way to have it above the mask? It looks better, to me if the ML text is in the clear zone, no?

What version, Joe? They behave just as you describe you'd like to have them for me....on the masked side, above the masking. First time I used these tools was with the 2009 product, and I don't recall them ever doing anything different.
