Pipe Network - manholes not in sync. with pipe inverts

For some reason, when I create a pipe network, the manholes and pipes do not
seem to move with each other in profile view. For instance when I change the
invert elevation of a manhole, the pipe invert stays where it was, and
becomes disconnected to the manhole. I can't get the manhole and pipe invert
to work together.
Could someone please explain.
Thank you,
Alan B

This behavior will depend on the rules you have setup, but you should be able to adjust the inverts of a pipe or pipes, then select the structure right click and choose resize to model. The strucutre should then update.

The magical resize button wasn't magical enough to push itself, so the clever people at Autodesk decided to make it magical enough in C3D 2007 to push itself AND be invisible at the same time. Of course, they never promised it would always work... which it sometimes doesn't...

I don't know if 2008 is better.

There is a button posted on the community website which does this for an entire network. Although I don't know how well it works in 08.

You can put it anywhere. The file is a visual basic program. Type VABMAN, click on the load button and go to the file. The file should be added to the list. Click the macro button, scroll down to the sumps, select it in the list and press run. It should prompt you to select a structure and then after you select a structure it should pop up a progress bar.

Once the file is loaded you can type VBARUN and select the macro from the list there or here is a way to add it to a toolbar.

Maybe it doesn't do what you want, is it is not also moving the sump as well as the Rim?

If it just the sump you want taken care of right click the structure and choose apply rules. This should put the sump back to what the rule is.

I must be doing something completely incorrect because for the life of me i can not get the sumps do adjust to the pipe elevations. Any other suggestions for this poor sap?

Check to make sure what the sump is set to under the structure properties (right click on structure or from Toolspace, middle tab), then check to see what the sump rule is set too. Apply the rule for the structure and see if that works. If it doesn't manually put the value you want the sump to be in the structure properties. If it still doesn't look right you may want the bottom of the manhole to be at the bottom of the pipe? To get this to look flush set the sump to -0.5 or what ever the manhole floor is set to. Otherwise you need to talk to someone smarter than me, because I'm not smart enought to ask the correct question.

Change the sump criteria from "Depth" to "Elevation". Apply. Then change back to "Depth". That should fix the glitch.
