Pipe Network Layers & Style not updating

I have several pipe networks that I updated the layers and styles. I'm noticing that the changes are not showing up in the file that they are data shortcut'd to.

Am I missing a setting?

Thanks

There have been some known issues with this behavior in 2014 version.

It's very important when posting to include the version and service pack are you're using.

You have service pack 2 of C3D2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, or 2014? Please be specific in order to get specific replies.

I seen a video on how to spilt. however, when I do split the network and created new part network and reestablished new layers and so on, the new network will not update the layers established.
