Pipe Description

Civil 3D 2006
On the Toolspace > Settings > Pipe Network > Parts List I have created a custom parts list for our company. It is a copy of the standard one out of the box but I have shortened the parts names (e.g. 2" DIP). I have set all of the defaults to our Styles, Rules and Labels as well as the defaults styles in the command settings for the "CreateNetwork" command. I draw a 2" DIP line and the label says "2 inch Ductile Iron Pipe" rather than our shortened description. If I right click on the label and go to pipe properties the description is the long one not ours. Also when I am creating the network and the first dialog pops up to show all of the settings they default to "Standard" parts list, "" structure label style and "" pipe label. Here again it does not default to our settings and if I pick our network parts list then the layers still default to 0 rather than the ones I set in our pipe style settings under the display tab.

In your pipe catalog are some XML files where you can change the parts name.
Make a copy before you change anything.
