Pasting Surfaces Together

I created a new surface in Civil 3d 2011. I pasted two surfaces into this one to create one overall surface. When I did this, I turned off the surface "triangles and contours" for my other two surfaces. Now when I turn something on or off in my overall surface, the last surface I pasted into the overall also turns the same layers on and off. Why is this happening? and is there a way to fix it?

Any chance you have the same style applied to the overall and the last pasted surface?

Sounds like you used the same Surface Style for all of the surfaces. Make sure to assign a different Style to the new surface.

UH..........yes, I have the same style for all surfaces. That was really stupid of me. I knew they were using the same style, but for some reason I was thinking I could change the look of each by doing edit styles for each individual one.

Thanks
