one last attempt to make XPx64 work...

I'm at a crossroads...I've tried the fixes I've found here and tried the advice of my reseller...but can't seem to get x64 to work with c3d 2007...I've faced north and whistled dixy while standing on one foot... to no avail...I have read that some of you have gotten it to work...is there anything special that you can think of that you had to do to make things work... that I may be missing...? I'm ready to give up the fight and retreat to x32... I hate too...and I know there is not that much benefit to x64 right now...its just the principle of the battle..I hate to concede.

thanks
DRG

Did you change the default install location?

I've heard that one works.

Did you install the latest service packs? I've had it working for the past year on x64 Pro (i know, i know, whoop-de-doo), but of course I forgot what I had to do to get it there (I had the same errors)... Download and install the latest versions of the .net packages from Microsoft (1.1 and 2.0). Uninstall and reinstall Civil 3D and see what happens. I dont think I got everything to work correctly until I installed SP2. (SP3 works great also)

Before you go through all that, go to options > files > support file search path - change all the paths by clicking browse, then go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk Civil 3D 2007\ (or wherever you put the default install folder) and click the appropriate file...this will be the same path as before, but some folders may be capitalized...for some reason i did this with vista x64 before and it got a few things to load. Let me know how you make out...

It may be worthwhile to wait a month for the 2008 software, which I believe is going to be x64 compatible. Can anyone confirm this? Message was edited by: SBoon

Last I heard was Vista 32 yes, Vista 64 no.
