Each of the objects is on a layer. These layers are set at the drawing
settings. You can control the entire object visibility with that layer. The
"Component Layers" in the style are used for the display of the
subcomponents of the object. For example, the Major and Minor contours can
be controlled via a layer on the Display tab of the style. Turning off
the component layer will only impact that subcomponent.
A few subtle items.... if you set the style component layers to ByLayer it
will derive the layer from the object layer. If you explode the object, the
entities will go to the layer defined in the style (subcomponent layer).

Hello,
This may be a simple question, but could someone explain or point me in the
right direction regarding this question:
I am somewhat confused about the use/purpose of the Object Layers Tab in the
Drawing Settings Window.
What is the difference between the layers in the Object Layers Tab and the
"Component" layers found lower in the style settings tree hierarchy (ex.
Edit Surface Style->Display Tab->Component Table->Layer Column)..?
How should I use these different Object and Component settings?
Thank you for any help you may have.
