No Parcels in Vault?

Why aren't sites preserved on LandXML exports, and why are parcels not available as references in vault?

Are parcels best kept live in the drawing? I've heard some people are bringing parcels in as standard xref's, but do the parcel labels maintain viewport scale and orientation when this is done?

Hmmm I've never had a problem exporting parcels with XML. What are you
importing them into? I'm accustomed to xref'ing parcels as well. All
labels in Civil 3D adjust scale and orientation, even in xref's.

As far as your second question in concerned, you'll have to bring that one
up with Autodesk. If I were to make a guess I would say that it's because
parcels don't rely on other objects and other object don't rely on parcels.
You need to be able to share surfaces because profiles rely on them. Share
alignments and profiles because corridors rely on them. You see where I'm
going here? I'm guessing that's why they aren't there. I've never missed
them i nvault.

It would be nice to have them in there, if for labeling and other visual
changes. I'm no holding my breath though, IIRC, it's not in 2008.

You know, you're right. At first, I was annoyed that parcels wouldn't
go into Vault, but if you really think about it (I mean REALLY,
LOGICALLY think about it...) you don't REALLY need them in Vault. XML
works as does XREFS.

I haven't had a problem exporting parcels to XML, I was just wondering why the sites that they are in don't export as well.

It's probably because XML is a generic exporting format that multiple platforms use (i.e. Eagle Point, LDT, Inroads, etc.) and sites are specific to C3D.

The reason it would be nice to have them in Vault is because they don't dynamically update if changed. I've gotten all the way to the end of a design, generating 20+ sheets showing the lot layout, only to change a parcel line. The current way you have to update all those drawings is very cumbersome when compared to what it would be like if they were objects at the project level being shared using Vault.

Why not just have the parcel drawing and then xref it into all your other drawings?
