Howdy all,
After 4-5 weeks I'm nearly sorted when it comes to deciphering each style's realm and abilities. However, a few remaining questions:
1) Is it possible to label geometry stations AT the station in the data bands? For example, can I get "BC: Ch103.15" to display vertically at chainage 103.15? I can make just the chainage numbers appear in profile bands, but I can't explain the relevance of the chainage being there (i.e. BC = "This station is shown because it's the beginning of a vertical curve"). All it takes is having access to the C3D codes in the label composers.
I know this information can be displayed at the label of the relevant curve (or whatever), but that requires stopping, reading and evaluating the information (something the construction crews don't like and often don't do) rather than presenting the info in an appropriate graphical format. Sometimes it can get rather cluttered in those labels too, though it's not been a project issue thus far.
2) In the top and bottom axes of the profile view, how do you turn off the HGP chainages (stations)? They seem to be lumped in with minor stations. You can switch off the HGP grid lines independently, why not the axis labels?
3) Is there a way of offsetting the axis labels from the tick marks? The only offsets I can find in the profile view dialog box refer to axis and view titles.
4) Wishlist: Could it be possible to trim the grid lines in a profile view to more than one profile? For example, if the existing ground and the design profiles cross a number of times, the grid lines should extend to the upper profile each time. It seems that this would make it easier to compare the two at glance.
5) I've mentioned this before, but despite the Help file saying only the Vertical Geometry weeding should work at this stage, I can't even get that to work. No effect at all. Can anybody confirm that it does work and/or provide some tips that may assist its operation?
6) Is it possible to move the geometry diagram up and down within a band in order to allow more room for labels? I can't find any way of controlling the diagram parameters at all.
I am keen to hear comment on all of these questions (except, "Why on earth would you try to do that!?"), especially from Autodesk staff, even if the answer is that such-and-such can't be done and there are no plans to make allowance for it.
Thanks in advance,
