Mouse delay

I have a delay when drawing.  I read all the "mouse dely" posts and have tried the following:

1) changed mouse

2) changed graphics setting to basic windows

3) turned off ucs

I have a new computer w Acad13.  Any help would be appreciated.  My drawing time is soo slow!

Thank you

Does this slowness occur with new, empty drawings too..?

I just created a new dwg and tested it. It does not have the same delay. -- Jennifer R.Trice, PE Trice, PC 4800 Whitesburg Dr Suite 30-264 Huntsville, AL 35802 Phone: 256 536 0260 Mobile: 256 651 9693 email: jennifertrice@tricepc.com

Madame,

create a new command icon and paste this macro into:

^C^C-PURGE;A;*;N;-PURGE;R;*;N;-PURGE;Z;AUDIT;Y;-SCALELIST;R;Y;;-PURGE;A;*;N;-OVERKILL;ALL;;;FILTERS;

then click on the icon: the "slow" drawing will get cleaned and (I hope) will come back to full speed.

If  your mouse is behaiving like this while hovering around C3D point objects then go to the CUI and turn off the Rollover Tooltips for Cogo Points.

Try drawing some tightly spaced objects in the new drawing and than copy them a couple of times almost over top of the original to create a tightly packed area of entities. Then see if there is a delay as the cursor passes over the entities. This will give a clue as to whether it's a resource issue of whether the cursor is lagging because of a setting like tooltips or Selectionpreview.

I do see a small delay when I pack an area w entities.

Then one of the variables that cause the cursor to interact with entities and objects. These may include Osnaps, Tooltips, Selection Preview, Rollover Tooltips and others I may not have thought of at this time.

I'd suggest disabling all of these and seeing if you still get the lag. If you do, try observing what kind of objects you're over at the time. I've found that cogo points and featurelines are prime culprits.

Do you have Selection Cycling on? If so, turn that off. It is notorious for causing mouse delays.

That's what my mouse does. It is slow and lagging when inside the GUI of any dwg (empty or not). I'm running AutoCAD 2012 - SP2 on WinXP - SP3 with Intel Pentium 4 2.8 and 2 gb ram. 2008 used to run fine but I wanted to take advantage of parametric design. Now I can't even draw a single line without getting frustrated.

Please help!!!  Smiley Frustrated

Sorry for your frustration. If you have already tried everything in this thread I suggest you look for more ideas. I don't have anything I can say to help you, but the forum for questions related to AutoCAD 2012 is here:
