Afternoon
Can you import microdrainage files directly into Revit?
If not, when the microdrainage file has been imported into Civils 3D, can you import both the civils 3D and microdrainage into Revit this way?
Thanks in advance
Ian
Good Morning Ian,
To our knowledge there is no support for WinDes files directly in Revit. The Civil3D link is part of the UK&Ireland country pack and is used to create a Pipe network using Civil3D entities. This is something that Autodesk produce exclusively for Civil3D I believe.
WinDes will export a DXF/DWG layout of your network from the Plan form, I am not sure if this will give you the information you need?
If you need more assistance with the WinDes export please contact our Support team - Support@Microdrainage.co.uk

Can we export coordinated pipe networks from Civil 3D into Windes for analysis?
That would be most useful.
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
The ability to export is also provided by the UK&Ireland country pack that Autodesk provide.
It is worth noting that the links currently work with our older SWS format, however we are working with Autodesk to see if support for our latest format, MDX, can be added in a future release.

Ian,
You can export your coordinated civils 3D pipe network into system 1 using the u.k and irland country pack tool. You will need to use this tool to renumber your pipe first in civils 3d BEFORE you export. The export file will be an SWS or FWS which ever you decide depending on your network. The export for your network is also part of the country pack tool and remember to choose the correct operating unit bit, 32 or 64.
When in system 1 you will need to number your manholes accordingly other wise when you export from windes back into civils 3D you will have issues.
01sw01
02sw01
03sw01
etc etc
When you export from system 1 OR simulation your file may be an sws OR an EWS file. you cannot import/export MDX files directly.
be careful when importing back into civils 3D as you need to specify the network standard which you will need to set up so you pipe material and sizes etc are correct.
