'metric' opening problem

When i opening an existing autocad drawing with civil 3d it is always opened with US customer units(inch, foot), I changed the units from drawing and ambient settings but the grid units is always locked to foot. Is there any way to open an existing drawing in always metric format (without copying it and paste it to the metric template, because i have large maps and drawings to copy paste)).

The grid units are, I believe, controlled by the information given in your Zone details, because (and now I'm guessing) it's trying to apply the local map grid to your drawing. Therefore, if you've got your zone set to nothing or to a US zone, your grid settings will be in feet. (I think.)

Hope that helps,
Trevor
