merging description key sets

I need a refresher on merging description key sets. I didn't have any luck
with Help or the techdoc from Autodesk. I thought we used to do it with XML.

It is suppose to work by exporting even a single point to land xml. You have
to make sure that the Include Description Keys option is turned on in the
Export tab of the Land XML Options dialog.

Thanks, John, but I can't seem to make it happen. I suspect the OE factor
but there's really not that much to mess up.

Mike (and anyone else of course),

The IE7 portion of my last post was missing an very important question mark!
:o

Is this the culprit. Do you think this could also effect the "Super Secret
Style Getter" (importing styles by editing the marker of an exisitng point
style).
I seem to have less than stellar sucess with that as well.

From everything I've heard, AutoCAD doesn't play nicely with IE7. It's amazing how many times I've submitted a support request and had the question come back, "Are they using IE7?"

No, IE6. I'll run this one up the pole in Manchester and report the results
back here.

this might be a really off the wall idea...

since you can migrate in desc keys from LDT, could you do a manual db edit
to paste in the second set of desc keys then migrate the whole batch
forward?

actually that seems pretty goofy because i dont know how you would get them
out of c3d into ldt unless landxml would do it which doesnt seem to be
working.

ignore me.

This might be old news, but any luck with this approach. I am new to Civil3d (from survCADD) and I am in the process of setting up description keys. After about 30 out of 70 I only see 5 after I reopen the panorama view. I am still mad and this was last week. I am persuing the idea of creating a xml file from excel. If anyone would post an example of the export xml file that contains some example keys. I will follow up with my results.

It's a known issue. 2008 is supposed to fix that. Can you send me a
template with the desckey file so I can check to see if it displays
correctly in 2008?
