Masking grading objects

Is there something similar to a mask block for only Civil 3D entities (like ConvertLineworkToMaskBlock) that will work on grading?  I have a road modeled by a corridor intersecting a pond berm created by grading and I can't use Wipeout or entities at true color 255,255,255 as I need to see the contours and grid lines under the pond grading.

You could Xref the other linework into the drawing that contains the contours and gridlines. Use XCLIP to create a clipping area where you don't want the xref to show through.

Good thinking, but I need to have the road and pond berm in the same drawing.
