MAPCONNET OBJECTS AND LAYERS

Is there a way to put objects from mapconnect on a layer permenatley. I have aerials connected to a dwg and I will select them and put them on a specific layer, then freeze that layer so it is not slowing me down, but when I save and then open that drawing again those objects are no longer associated to that layer. Is there a way to do that or maybe there is a better option all together?

You can either turn off the image/raster layers in the Map Display palette and/or disconnect if the data connection dialog to speed it up a little.

OR 

After you connect to the rasters export the map to AutoCAD DWG Format and it turns those raster connections into png file that you can put on an autocad layer and use freeze/off with.

Using map space and turning off the individual aerials is what I was looking for, thanks.
