Map 3D SHP file field with Underscore Causes Crash

Hey

Suffering some serious instability issues when using SHP files with fields with underscores mapped to the feature label..

Try the attached file... read it in, and use one of the underscored fields as a feature label..

work for a little bit add a surface or some lines ro something and save..

It will crash!

Anyone else experienced this issue?

Kapanther

Hi Kapanther,

I'm assuming you are using Civil3D? May I know the version as well?

Thanks,

Wendy

I was able to reproduce the issue and has escalated it to our Development team.

The Development Team does have your contact information in case they need to contact you for additional information. Additionally, I strongly encourage you to leave inquires and comments about this on our Product Feedback page at our website which gathers customer suggestions and concerns, and delivers them directly to the product managers, who work directly with the developers. The more feedback we receive about certain features, lack of functionality, or wishlist items the more they will be looked at for consideration in future product releases and updates.

In the meantime, I can suggest the following workaround…

Try using FIELDs without underscore first. Then change it back to the underscored field. The crash seemed less susceptible. I can email me you or post the drawing here if you would to investigate.

However, it will still be best to eliminate having underscore in the field. I do apologized for the inconvenience.

Hope that helps,

Wendy

When I am working with lots of GIS people - this is not a solution. As they have lots of things mapped to these underscored fields theat I will break

Thanks for acknowledgement.. hope it gets fixed soon.

Hi Kapanther,

Can you look at the drawing attached to this email? I have the points mapped to the underscored FIELD and it didn't crash when I mapped it using non underscored field and then change it to underscored field.

Investigating this further, it seemed to be related to the size of the text as well as the points. If the default values were accepted, it will cause the crash, however if the size is modifed, the crash will not present.

Let me know if I miss anything.

Thanks,

Wendy
