Map 2015 problems

Running Civil 3D 2015 on a Windows 7 platform in 64 bit

Some problems:

- Many dialog boxes missing such as ADEQUERY (CMDDIA 0 or 1 makes no difference - command line only).

- Attach Drawing through Map Explorer of the Task Pane - use Create/Edit Aliases button of dialog - MAPWSACTION => Internal error ! - cannot create an alias as it will not activate

- MAPTHMOBJ - cannot initialize dialog box

- MAPTHEMTOPO - cannot initialize dialog box

Hi,

for me and Civil3D 2015 German on Win7x64:

>> dialog boxes missing such as ADEQUERY

Reproducable, the input via commandline is not a way to work.

>> cannot create an alias

Reproducable

But I'm sure it's a Civil3D specific problem, not a Map3D specific problem. (So if an admin sees this post here, could be moved to the Civil3D forum)

And now I have not spent more time in reproducing the issues, I tried to solve them and found 1 workaround for all that:

As I have installed Map3D too, I compared the support paths and in C3D there are two paths missing, I added those 2 paths and all you mentioned is working well again.

   C:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2015\map\support

   C:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2015\map\support\de-de

Be careful: the de-de is because I have a German release of Map3D and also Civil3D, that will have other language codes on none German systems.

Next warning to my modifications: I have both products installed, I don't know if those paths are available on systems where Map3D is not installed, maybe someone can verify that.

Thank you. The changes did not make any difference so I will uninstall Civil 2015, install Map 2015 and then add Civil 2015 afterwards. I will report back with what I find.

Hi roskirko,

I believe Alfred is right, please try again the following...

In Options > Files > Support File Search Path, Add the path :

C:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2015\map\support\en-us

Apply and close the dialog box.

Now, close Civil 3D 2015 and restart it.
I believe this should now work.

Thanks to let us know if that works for you.

Cheers, Nicolas

Hi Darren,
This is not as designed...
For the time being I wrote a technical solution to describe the issue/solution.
Apology for the inconvenience.

Kind Regards,
Nicolas

Thank you.

I will describe what has happened.

Before changing any options, the described "bug" was there.

Upon taking the steps suggest by Alfred (thank you again), an ununsual response occured:

- the system accept the support path : C:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2015\map\support but did not adhere to the C:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2015\map\support\en-us path using the Browse button. Therefore, the "bug" remained.

I was going to uninstall Civil 2015, then install Map 2015 followed by a new Civil 2015 install; but I received your message in time to try your solution BUT I used the Add method instead of Browse - this allowed me to paste the path in for C:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2015\map\support\en-us. I then moved this path up in the priority list to the top; closed Civil 2015 and re-opened to find that it now works properly with dialogs.

Thank you.

PS: of course this "bug" has to be addressed for new installations so one does not have to be aware of this process to get their Civil 2015 to work correctly the first time; so I take it that there wll be a new "patch" created to fix this "bug" ?

Nicolas, kudos to you for posting this solution, but negative kudos to the development team for letting the program ship with this easily fixable issue.

Pretty symptomatic of recent releases - fundamental things not getting picked up which reinforces my view that resources are being ploughed into Cloud and 360 products...:(

Hi, this does not solve the problem for me. That path is not missing from my installation but commands such as maptrim are not working.

Can you suggest something else to try?

I have confirmed that ade.dcl is in the correct folder and that my Support file search path has the path C:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2015\support\en-us listed, but I tried several map commands and either nothing happens at all or I get a message about cannot initialise dialogue box.

Oh wait, the word map is missing ~ goes to edit

Phew, it works now that I have added the word map to the search path link. Thanks for posting the solution even if some of us don't read straight first thing in the morning.

I just installed Civil 3D 2015 for the first time, now that Service Pack 2 is released.  I found this thread by having the very same issue.  You would think it would be corrected by now and in the latest service pack.

I have tried everything in this thread, and I still cannot change the directory from the C: drive in the attch option.  Is there something else that I can do or is there a fix yet?

You will get better responses if you make a new thread instead of tacking onto an existing, solved thread.

Are you creating a drive alias before trying to switch from c: ?

I have also started a new thread, but know one has a solution.  When I click the botton you have circled, nothing happens, and in my command line it says "internal error".  I have made sure that all my map support file paths are loaded, as stated in this thread.  Restarted after removing and adding (just to see if that was a problem), moved the path to the top of the list, everything that was suggested.  😞

Make sure you select the right drive...C:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2015\map\support\en-us VS. D:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2015\map\support\en-us... Fixed me right up thanks!

What happens if you disable your virus protection? It is common for realtime protection to scan every piece of programming AutoCAD loads into memory (which it does on-demand). This causes potential for conflict. When you press the button for Alias create/edit AutoCAD loads a program that wasn't in memory before. That program needs access to the local drive and network. The virus scanner could be blocking it.

Anyway, this is something to check and can take literally a minute, if you know how to use the virus scanning software. If not, well...

So in applying this fix to my Civil 3d Profiles it breaks my New Tab when I start the program (Civil 3D 2015).

It opens fine when I don't have the corrected map pathing in there but as soon as I add it back in it opens a default template file automatically.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Dylan
