Manholes in XREF Profile View

To preface - I don't intend to get into how labeling should be done for plan production.

My question resides in the fact that manholes (probably important to note this is the only part in my parts list that behaves this way) in an XREF profile view take the color of the current layer in the drawing, no matter the style setup of the structure in the XREF.

Example:

In the structure style in the drawing the manhole resides in, the color of the structure and pipe outlines in profile view is set to "Red". It appears correctly in the drawing. When I open the sheet file to label, the manholes change from "Red" to whatever color my current layer is set to. The easiest workaround is to create a "dumb" layer that is red and to keep it my current layer at plotting time.

Any ideas? The style dictates that the structure is showing the actual structure in profile view, not a block.

Thanks,
