Please give a detailed description of what you did and what happened, along with what you expected to happen.

And by the way, please turn off CAPS LOCK! Thanks.

Okay, my coworker is having difficulty simply drawing a line that maintains the elevation of the start point. In this case a Cogo Point. The second and consecutive end points of the line all revert to zero. We went into the Elevation Command and purposely set it to the given elevation of the Cogo. Which seems to have been a backwards way to draw these lines, but it seems to have worked. The only problem being that she must switch the elevation whenever she needs to draw a line at a different elevation. Just looking for a simpler solution.

I am not sure if this is the answer you are looking for, but it is useful information.

When you create a line the elevations of the end points can vary from point to point allowing the line to have a slope. If you are drawing a Polyline the entire line is forced to be at the same elevation, it does not have to be zero, but all of the vertex must have the same elevation. If you draw a 3d polyline or a feature line then each vertex can have seperate elevations.

OSNAPZ Variable can have an effect on the information above.

If set to 0 the each click takes into account the z value of the click.

If set to 1 the autocad ignores the z value and assumes 0.

I hope you find this helpful.

Thanks,
Dave

If you draw a polyline a select the first known cogo point the polyline will take the elevation from the point and all clicks after will hold the same elevation. then if desired you can explode the PL and it will become multiple lines all at the same elevation.

Thanks,
Dave

Try typing in the command "elevation" to see if it has been changed to anything but zero. Then obviously put in zero.

Hope this helps,
