Line - Angle Distance help

When I use the transparent command 'BD from the line command it prompts me for quadrant, angle, distance, occupied point icon moves forward, but no line is drawn. If I continue with a second line segment without exiting the command it starts working properly. What am I doing wrong, how do I get the first line segment to work properly?

Also, while in the transparent command when I hit F1 for help, all I get is help for the Autocad line command - why no C3D help for this?

My guess is you're starting the 'BD transparent command BEFORE picking
your starting point. This is expected behavior. Pick your starting
point before you do your transparent command and it should work.

nope - you can pick your starting point, enter a bearing and distance,
and the first segment doesn't draw - I tested twice to make sure, so the
OP is right.

This only happens when you

1. Start the line command
2. enter 'BD (or use toolbar button)
3. pick your start point
4. enter quad, bearing and distance info

But it works fine if you

1. Start the line command
2. pick your start point
3. enter 'BD (or use toolbar button)
4. enter quad, bearing and distance info

This is expected behavior because you're basically running the
transparent command before the line is given a starting point. So the
first course you're running is actually to get to the starting point of
the line command.

You're right, BUT....

When you start the line command, then enter 'BD, it STILL asks you for a
start point, and allows you to pick that start point. Then your
entered B&D takes you to another "start point".

It may be expected behavior, but it's bad program design. If it didn't
work, there should be no option to select the start point AFTER you
enter 'BD (at the very least, it shouldn't accept the point)

Agreed.

Lesson learned for today: ALWAYS pick your reference point before
running an Angle/Grade-type transparent command.

Jason, Your 1st suggestion doesn't work correctly actually, but your 2nd suggestion does so that's what I'll use.

Thanks

Well, yeah. I was telling Darron that he was right - entering 'bd then
picking the start point won't work, but picking the start point and then
entering 'bd will.

I was echoing your original error report - so it wasn't that much of a
suggestion 😉
