Layer Manager Dialogue box window not opening

Hi
When we click on the icon to open the Layer Properties Manager Dialogue box, the window is not opening but it is showing the options in the command line. Can anyone help in this? I suppose there should be some system variable to control the visibility of this dialogue box (like FILEDIA controls visibility of Open/Save dialogue box)

Your help is appreciated.

Regards
Amit Dhill

What happens if you type in ._LAYER at the command line.

BTW: If you are getting the command options on the command line, then
this isn't a case where the dialog is just "hidden".

Hi David

Thanks for the reply. I did check the macro in CUI before posting and it is '_layer. I have tried all the options but window is not being displayed.

CMDDIA has no effect on the layer dialog.

I am running two monitors and having same problem. Before the problem, I was demonstrating AutoCAD using a projector as my second monitor. When I went back to work in my office and plug in my second monitor, this is when the layer dialogue box dissappeared.

Thanking you in advance,
Ted

Open Notepad and paste this in:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R17.1\ACAD-6000:409\Profiles\C3D08\Dialogs\LayerManager]
"Bounds"="10, 100, 1000, 500"

Change C3D08 to the name of your profile; mines C3D08.arg

Save the Notepad file with an extension of .reg and double click on it to merge it into your windows registry. This will reset your layer manager dialog box position back to where you can see it.

In the CUI dialog, change to another workspace, hit Apply. This makes all the windows reset to default positions. Then change back to your workspace, and go through the tedious task of getting all your toolbars and other windows back where you had them, but at least they should be be there.
