Layer Filters

Is there a way to set up a layer filter to strip off the xref name?

I have standard layers in all my drawings.   I want to use a filter to setup the type of drawing.. i.e erosion control.

However, from project to project the xref file name changes so filters don't work with the new name...

or maybe I just don't know how to use them right?

Anyway, if there is a way to hide the xref filename from the prefix of the layer.. if so, a standard layer filter would grab all the layers with the same name.

You can change the name of the xrefs in the xref pallette. This would get you to a standard name for all layers.

That's not exactly what I was looking for but it's a pretty good work around. Thanks.

So you want a filter for layers named "Topo" and "Water" which may reside in xref'ed drawings named XREF1, XREF2, and XREF3?

*|Topo

*|Water

Will filter in all of the Xrefs.

You can set up the layer filters with wildcards.  Have to be careful with layers that have the same ending.  (ie, *Storm will filter ex storm, and proposed storm layer names)
