Lable tab

Hi,

My office is making the jump to AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 and the first thing I noticed is there is no LABLE TAB.

How do I lable a line for say bearing and distance? In 2008 you could right click on the line and it would give an

option to do so but not in 2010.

Hi Charles-

You can find the Labels & Tables under the ANNOTATE tab:

Additionally if you are just mioving to 2010 and the new functionality of the Ribbon, you can search for commands by clicking the big red "C" and type in what you are looking for. This will assist you in learning where you can find everything in the Ribbon.

Hope this helps!

Thank You Seth,

I tried that and for some reason I dont have Lables, I do have the Tables tab.

Am I missing something, when I loaded 2010 I loaded disk one and two, and it looked like

it was finished, should I load disk three?

Hi Charles-

Have a look at this blog post as it may resolve the issue: http://beingcivil.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/08/labels-and-tables-panel-empty-after-update-1.html

Hey Seth,

Chuck Riley here again.

I went to that site and tried what he suggested but it didn't work.

I dont have a lable tab at all, and when I do a search with the big red button it

cant find it. I went to downloads to see if there was a service pac, no luck.

Should I try reloading the program?

Hi Chuck-

Are you running Civil 3D as AutoCAD? If so you will not get those options on the Annottate tab. Try launching the OPTIONS menu>PROFILES tab (type OP at the command line) and switching your profile to <<C3D_Imperial>>.

Seth,

You are a genuis! Now I have the tabs but they wont do anything

when I choose them. Maybe my computer cant handle it.

Sorry to be such a pain, but I would really like to learn this program.

Hi Chuck-

There may be an issue with your installation, however you mentioned that your machine might no be able to handle it. I am not sure this would have any bearing on the ribbon selections not working, but just out of curiosity what are your system specifications?

You also may want to check your graphics card and/or drivers:

Hi Chuck-

It may just be your CUIX file needs resetting. Please type the command CUI and in the dialog select the CIVIL>right click>RESET C3D.CUIX.

In the heat of battle you can always type ADDLABELS at the command line.

The workaround we have been using in 2010 not worked for me in 2011. I just posted it to Subscription Support.

Similar, I have the panel but no buttons. My cui is a custom file that was copied from the c3d.cuix file. I have tried all of the tricks. Even if I replace the dll and mnr files for the custom cui with the C3D.dll and c3d.mnr I cannot get the labels button back. I'll post files for suport. I did port this cui from 2010. It is a copy in 2011 I am not using the same file in both versions. Now that this post is forcing me to think about thhis I am begining to wonder if porting from 10 to 11 is doing this. Perhaps the resources in the dll and mnr changed in the update ... or perhaps I should not have taken the dll and mnr from 2011 and use it with a cui from 2010?? I am sure I'll find the answers on the other side of the support request. 🙂
