label existing EOP,ROW in Section?

Don't normally do road work so this might be a dumb question but... I have an exisitng road in plan view & have an EG surface with profile & sections, i.e. no corridor or FG profile. I need to label EOP & ROW & some odd and assorted things in plan view in section. Elevation is not critical, I just need to show where ROW & various utilities intersect my existing surface in section view & in an ideal world, label it. I've looked at coridors & adding alignments & baselines but is there a better way?

Hi Doug_000,

Here is a 3-part series showing step by step how to do this: http://beingcivil.typepad.com/my_weblog/2010/12/vertical-markers-for-row-and-eop-setting-up-labels-a...

I hope it works for you.

Thanks Almas, that looks like what I'm after. I'm headed down that path. will post if I have questions.

Almas's suggestion works well. If you're not using a corridor (or even if you are) there's another, arguably easier, method.

You can create feature lines from your EOP and ROW lines and use the project to multiple section views tool.

Either method has its strengths and weaknesses. Almas's solution is more flexible but mine is easier and quicker.

Thanks Matt, I was actually looking for that command before I posted. looking in the section menu & couldn't find it. jsut checked help menu & told me to look in the ribbon (old habits are hard to break). I've went through Almas' method & it did work. I have a variable ROw so I have to modify it to expand & target the ROW alignment but I have some other stuff that may work better using your method.

works great. only one question. is there a way to project to all the sections at once? I'm using 2010 & when I select all of them & project, it only goes into one.

Not for 2010.  2011 and higher.

Maybe I missed something.

I would like to represent ROW using Feature Lines - except - I would prefer the ROW Feature Lines to be within an externally referenced DWG.

Is there maybe a setting somewhere to let the project-to-multi-section-views function access xreffed Feature Lines?

I wonder if maybe the developers are considering expanding data shortcuts to include certain feature lines like ROW lines - would be useful.

I encountered the same problem trying to apply targets within assemblies - cannot access object within externally referenced DWG - although - one could represent ROW with an Alignment and data share that ..

Nice idea with alignments. A while back I added a request for data references for featurelines to the wishlist...RIP.
