Label Component Order

When my structure label enters a drag state it seems to “forget” the order of the components that make up that label (see attached image). The dragged state is set to use stacked text, switching it to “as composed” keeps the order of the components, but I loose the ability to drag the label to the left without a leader running through the middle of the label. Am I missing a setting? Any ideas? Thanks ahead of time!

How are the label components composed?

Are they anchored to each other in a sequential order? (text A anchored to a line, text B anchored to Text A and text C anchored to B)

or are they all anchored to the same item? (text A, B, and C are each anchored to a line with different xy offsets to put them in order)

The label is composed of 4 components:
Component 1 = The first three lines of text, anchored to feature
Component 2 = FL IN, anchored to component 1
Component 3 = FL OUT, anchored to component 2
Component 4 = Northing and Easting, anchored to Component 3

Well, the structure of the label seems right for holding the order. I don't have 07 yet so all I can offer you is that I setup a label just like it in 06 and the information stays in the correct order.

Well I created a quick label style that I think is composed like yours. And I am not experiancing the issue. I do notice on your command line you are experiancing some other issues with the drawing. Got a clean dwg without any other issues? Might try it there. Also audit etc.

Matt,

I have experienced the exact same problem. What I have found is that
when dragging a composed label, the dragged state (if using stacked
text) sometimes gets jumbled, but the jumbled order is actually the
order that each component was created when making the label. If you
have created the label components in exactly the order you want them
displayed, then no problem. But if you create the components then
decide their order (position in the stack), dragging the label reflects
the creation order, not the intended order.

Confused? Me too. To fix it we go back and recreate the label
components in the order we want them to appear in the stack. To avoid
it we decide order first then create the components.

Looking at your example, it seems possible that you made all of your
text components first, then your 'text for each' components, then
decided order. When dragged, it reverted to the order of creation.

nzeeben's post did not reveal the same error probably because he created
the components in the order of intended display?

I also have been having that problem. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I
guess I'll have to redo all my label styles.

Hey Castelli,

Did this fix it for you or not? I am just curious.

You’ll have to excuse my forum etiquette, but I finally got around to remaking my labels and sure enough……the dragged state remembers the order of composure, not the anchoring that defines that label style. Good to know before you compose all your labels.
